San Yan Feng Shui SchoolFlying Stars and Time & Space Systems of the Three Cycles Teaching
San Yan school of Feng Shui is one of the two major traditional Feng Shui schools, and includes Flying Stars and Time & Space systems.
The two major schools of traditional Feng Shui are San He School, also called Three Harmonies School, and San Yan, or Three Cycles School. The major difference between San Yan and San He systems is that time is not considered in a Feng Shui analysis conducted by a San He school practitioner. San Yan, or Three Cycles School of Feng Shui The major concept of San Yan Feng Shui is studying the energy, or Chi, of the dwelling, with the purpose of determining its influence on people. Having determined the qualities of Chi in the particular premise, a Feng Shui consultant will recommend solutions for improving the natural qualities of the energy and redirecting and enhancing its flows with the purpose of enhancing specific aspects of life. Another notable characteristic of San Yan system is that parts of the house responsible for each particular aspect of life change their location with time. That is, if in San He system the wealth area, for example, is always located in the south-east, in San Yan system this area of the Bagua periodically changes its position. Flying Stars SystemThe Flying Stars method of the Three Cycles system is the most known these days. This teaching, in addition to the environment, takes into consideration time. That is, dominant qualities of each Bagua area are considered to change as time periods change. Profound and careful calculation allows determining good and bad directions for each year, month, and even day, as well as predicting the probability of certain events to take place in the person’s life. When analyzing a house, for example, practitioners of the Flying Stars method usually ask for the year of building’s construction, and dates of birth of the family members. Then, on the basis of performed calculations and customer’s desire as for which area of life should be improved, a practitioner of the Flying Stars method arranges the representations of Feng Shui elements in such a way they form an enhancing cycle to support the person’s desires. Three Cycles of Feng ShuiA cycle is a specific arrangement of the 5 Feng Shui elements. Therefore, arrangement and interaction of the elements determine how good or bad certain environment is for a person. The tree cycles are the enhancing (also called productive), controlling (destructive), and weakening (exhausting) cycle. In an enhancing cycle the elements are arranged in the way to support each other – water helps wood to grow, and wood feeds fire, for example. In the destructive cycle elements destroy each other – fire burns wood and water destroys fire. Therefore, the major principle of the three cycles system is to arrange the elements in such a way that they either support and enhance the qualities of each other, or, if needed, weaken (but not destroy) certain elements in the environment. San Yan school of Feng Shui is one of the two schools of traditional Feng Shui. Its major difference from San He teaching is in considering time in addition to visible environmental structures. Flying Stars and Time & Space methods are the most well know and popular systems of the Three Cycles School. Sources:
